da bet7k: It was a difficult night for Liverpool on Tuesday at the Wanda Metropolitano. The Reds travelled to the home of Atletico Madrid as they looked to get the knockout stages of the Champions League off to a good start. However, in the end, they ended up losing 1-0, with Saul Niguez scoring the only goal of the match after just four minutes. From that point on, it was an uphill battle for Jurgen Klopp’s men – they failed to muster up a single shot on target.
Call yourself a Liverpool expert? How much did each of these big-money January signings cost?
In the aftermath of the match, Daily Mirror journalist and Liverpool reporter David Maddock was giving his thoughts on Liverpool’s chances of progression – and he believes that they are still in a good position to get through.
Atletico have not been at their best so far this campaign – they currently lie in fourth in La Liga and have managed only 25 goals in the league.
However, they have a sturdy defence, having shipped just 17 times in the Spanish top tier, and they have reached the Champions League final twice in the last decade. They are still a force to be reckoned with and, although the Reds are obviously dangerous at home, as Maddock says, they will still have their work cut out to get past Los Rojiblancos.
