da dobrowin: Yannick Bolasie will reject a loan move to Aston Villa as he is intent on remaining in the Premier League, according to The Birmingham Mail.
What’s the word?
da supremo: Aston Villa’s desperate hunt for additional recruits before the loan market slams shut at the end of the month has been handed a huge blow, as DR Congo international Yannick Bolasie does not want to drop down to the Championship.
Steve Bruce is keen to bolster his squad in wide areas ahead of a promotion push this season and Bolasie was a reported target, though The Birmingham Mail says the experienced forward will reject a move to the club – although Villa have not officially made an approach.
That leaves Villa in a sticky situation with just weeks to go until the loan window slams shut and it represents the second blow over the course of the weekend for the club, who also saw Robert Snodgrass start for West Ham against Bournemouth – proving that he is part of Manuel Pellegrini’s plans after Bruce asked for permission to complete a deal, The Birmingham Mail says.
Bruce will now have to chase alternative targets and could be set to experience a huge fight for signatures in the course of the coming weeks.
What should Bruce do?
With Yannick Bolasie and Robert Snodgrass both appearing to be out of the question, Bruce must eye alternative additions and The Sun (August 19th, page 60) states Villa are hoping of landing Sheyi Ojo from Liverpool.
However, Villa are not the only club interested in bringing the talented 21-year-old to the Championship on loan and must not place all their eggs in one basket – having already learned the hard way that things can change in the blink of an eye.

While Sheyi Ojo would be a solid addition, he would not provide the experience that Villa have been looking for in their pursuits of Bolasie and Snodgrass, raising questions as to whether he would be able to hit the ground running upon his arrival.
The best course of action would probably be to land two wingers to bolster the squad, if possible, securing Ojo along with a more experienced addition.
