da dobrowin: According to Italian site Tuttomercatoweb, Arsenal have enquired about the availability of Torino striker M’Baye Niang and the Senegal international is available for just €15m (£13.4m).
What’s the story?
da 888casino: Tuttomercatoweb reports that Niang is not in the plans of former Watford boss Walter Mazzarri, but the Turin club will only accept a permanent deal for the 23-year-old and French side Nice have already had a loan offer rejected.
New Arsenal boss Unai Emery has already made five signings this summer, bringing in Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Matteo Guendouzi, Lucas Torreira, Stephan Lichtsteiner and goalkeeper Bernd Leno as he looks to make his own mark on the squad following the departure of Arsene Wenger.
Niang had an impressive World Cup this summer for Senegal, scoring one and providing one assist in his side’s three group games and although his loan move to Torino was only made permanent at the start of July, he could be set for a move away.
The perfect plan B
Across North London from Arsenal and Spurs are yet to make any signings this summer, despite having nine players in the World Cup semi-finals who will arrive late back to preseason training. At the end of last season, boss Mauricio Pochettino also called for chairman Daniel Levy to be brave and to take risks with transfers, according to The Guardian.
However, this has yet to materialise and Spurs are at risk of getting to deadline day on August 9 without making a single addition to the squad. With Niang available for just £13.4m though, he would not even represent much of a risk for Levy and could be the perfect plan B and back-up for Harry Kane.
Although he has had a good preseason so far, Spanish striker Fernando Llorente has failed to be an adequate replacement for Kane when the Englishman is out of the Spurs side. Niang’s pace and willingness to run in behind opposition defences would offer Pochettino something different and he must rival Arsenal for his signature this summer.
