da cassino online: According to reports on Sky Sports, Southampton chairman Ralph Krueger says the south coast outfit would be willing to turn down a bid of £60m for captain Virgil van Dijk this summer.
da aviator aposta: Despite being absent since January with an ankle injury, the Dutchman has impressed the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool during an impressive 18 months in the Premier League, and the 25-year-old has been consistently linked with a £50m move away from St Mary’s in recent weeks.
However, despite losing a number of their best players over the course of the last three summers, Krueger has moved to reassure Saints fans that they don’t have to sell their star man – who only signed a new six-year deal with the club last May – at the end of the current campaign.
Here are three reasons Southampton would be mad to turn down a £60m bid for Van Dijk…
World-record fee
If Saints did receive a £60m offer – or even one for £50m – this summer from one of the many interested clubs, it would be a potential world-record fee for the transfer of a defender.
While the Dutchman has been brilliant since joining the club from Celtic in 2015, the chance to make a huge profit on a player they signed for an initial fee of £11.5m less than two years ago would surely be something the club couldn’t afford to turn down.
Supporters would understand
While Saints fans may have been angry in previous summers at the number of players that have been sold and perhaps not always feeling they have got the fee the player is worth – think Victor Wanyama and Sadio Mane – this would be a totally different story.
As much as the supporters love Van Dijk and know what an important member of the squad he is, it is unheard of for a Southampton player to potentially be worth that much and they would understand that it would be difficult for the club to turn down such a huge offer.
They could use money wisely
In recent seasons, the majority of Saints’ top summer transfer buys have cost between £10m-£20m, and while losing Van Dijk would obviously be a huge blow for the defence and for the team as a whole, the money could be reinvested into the squad.
If the club sticks to the buying policy we have seen over the course of the last few season, receiving £60m for the Dutchman could allow them to strengthen the squad with at least three or four quality players as they look to push on again next term.
