da luck: Finally, after years of desperate pleas from Arsenal fans longing for some talent up-front, Arsene Wenger has signed a striker.
da premier bet: None other than… Takuma Asano?
While the signing of the Japanese youngster will hardly excite the Emirates faithful supporters, Wenger has at least demonstrated that he isn’t going to shy away from improving his squad this summer.
Asano and the early signing of Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka shows progress but with nearly all of the Gunners rivals acquiring some of the biggest names in world football, Wenger will need to step his spending up another notch in order to compete this season.
The new bumper Premier League television deal means that all clubs, including Arsenal will be able to spend a significant amount of money this summer.
Here are the five players who could follow Takuma Asano to the Emirates Stadium…
Alexandre Lacazette
Having been the subjected interest of a number of clubs already this summer, Alexandre Lacazette is seemingly desperate for a move away from Lyon.
The Frenchman has been one of the most prolific goal scorers in recent years in his home nation and many were left scratching their heads when Didier Deschamps did not select him for the French Euro 2016 squad.
Arsenal are reportedly keen on bringing the 25-year-old to the Emirates but may need to fork out £35million to land their man.
Julian Draxler
One of the most in-demand young players in Europe, Julian Draxler has impressed for Germany at Euro 2016 and could well be set to leave Wolfsburg for the Premier League this summer.
Draxler, who was very close to a move to the Emirates two seasons ago, is reportedly wanted by Manchester United and Liverpool, so Arsene Wenger may face some serious competition if he wants to land the 22-year-old.
Alvaro Morata
One of the most protracted transfer rumours of the summer so far, has come in the form of Arsenal and their reputed interest in Alvaro Morata.
The Spaniard is set to return to Real Madrid, after the club activated his €30 million buy-back clause from Juventus.
This is the first step in a potentially prolonged transfer saga, as Wenger will attempt to pry the 23-year-old away from his home city, with the promise of first team football.
Ondrej Duda
At just 21, Ondrej Duda was arguably one of the most impressive youngsters on display at the European Championships.
The Slovakian performed with composure far befitting a more experienced player while also displaying the nerveless, offensive mind-set of a young, hungry player.
With such fierce competition in attacking midfield at the Emirates, Dude may have a tough time establishing himself at Arsenal this coming season.
However, Arsene Wenger would be the perfect tutor for Duda and the young star could be a mainstay for the Gunners for the next decade, if the reported transfer deal is completed.
Riyad Mahrez
Early speculation surrounding a potential Riyad Mahrez transfer to Arsenal has cooled recently, especially as Jamie Vardy put pen to paper and extended his contract with the Foxes.
However, the Premier League’s best player, according to the PFA, would find it had to turn down a move to the Emirates.
Expect any transfer between the two clubs to run for a considerable time this summer; Leicester are in no rush to sell and Arsenal will investigate all options before paying over-the-odds for the Algerian.
