da wazamba: Marcelo Bielsa will allow Eunan O’Kane to leave Leeds during the January transfer window, according to Football Insider.
What’s the story?
da brwin: The seven-cap Republic of Ireland international has not played a single competitive game of football since suffering a double leg-break in September 2018 while on loan at Luton Town.
Now that the 29-year-old has fully recovered from that injury, there are various clubs in the Football League who are interested in signing him – specifically from League One and Two.
It is suggested that Leeds will be willing to consider offers, having been unable to offload him during the summer due to the complications surrounding the injury.
A chance to move on
Marcelo Bielsa has reportedly said behind the scenes that he has no interest in using O’Kane and is happy for the former AFC Bournemouth man to leave.
That is perhaps not too much of a surprise with the likes of Mateusz Klich, Kalvin Phillips and Stuart Dallas having played in the central midfield areas.
A true test for any Leeds fan: Can you match these iconic images with the right results?
It is said that the midfielder’s wages could be an issue for League One and Two sides, but getting away from Elland Road is important for O’Kane when Bielsa’s stance is considered.
O’Kane only managed three League One appearances before picking up his injury last season, though he showed that he can be a useful player to have during the 2017/18 campaign.
During that term, he made 27 starts and five assists in the Championship for Leeds, recording three assists.
In addition to that, he showed good defensive qualities, averaging 1.9 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 1.6 clearances per game.
If he is to get the opportunity to show that type of effectiveness again, then it is likely he will need to do it away from Elland Road.
In other news, Leeds have suffered a blow in their pursuit of Premier League man.
